Norfolk International Airport reported a 6.9 percent increase in passenger activity for the month of April 2023 with 373,734 passengers, representing the busiest April in the airport’s history.
This figure compares to an April 2022 passenger count of 349,685. January to April 2023 total passenger count at the closest international aiport to the Greater Outer Banks and northeastern North Carolina has increased 11.1 percent representing 1,245,840 passengers compared to 1,121,407 passengers during the same period in 2022.
In other activity, 4,767,142 pounds of cargo were shipped in and out of the airport during April 2023.
This represents a 11.7 percent decrease compared to April 2022, which saw 5,398,080 pounds of cargo shipped. January to April 2023 cargo pounds shipped has decreased 2.1% percent representing 19,920,681 cargo pounds compared to 20,355,299 cargo pounds during the same period in 2022.
The above-mentioned figures reflect service by scheduled airlines Allegiant, American, Breeze, Delta, Frontier, Southwest, Spirit, United and their regional airline partners, as well as charter airlines. All-cargo carriers include Federal Express and UPS.
