Norfolk International Airport continues streak of new monthly passenger records

Norfolk International Airport continued its string of setting new monthly records for the number of passengers flying through the closest international airport to the Greater Outer Banks.

ORF reported a 11.7 percent increase in passenger activity for the month of October 2023 with 402,648 passengers, marking the ninth consecutive record-setting month. The October 2022 passenger count was 360,380.

January to October 2023 total passenger count has increased 9.5 percent representing 3,787,883 passengers, compared to 3,460,755 passengers during the same period in 2022.

In other activity, 3,580,116 pounds of cargo were shipped in and out of the airport during October 2023. This represents a 32.2 percent decrease compared to October 2022, which saw 5,282,928 pounds of cargo shipped.

January to October 2023 cargo pounds shipped has decreased 8.5% percent representing 47,990,023 cargo pounds compared to 52,450,765 cargo pounds during the same period in 2022.

The numbers reflect service by scheduled airlines Allegiant, American, Breeze, Delta, Frontier, Southwest, Spirit, United and their regional airline partners, as well as charter airlines. All-cargo carriers include Federal Express and UPS.
