Manteo Police Chief Vance Haskett retires after 24 years with the force

After more than 24 years with the Town of Manteo Police Department, Chief Vance Haskett is retiring today.

Haskett began his service as a Police Officer for the Town of Manteo Police Department on March 16, 1999.  He was awarded Officer of the Year during his first year on the police force.

Haskett was promoted to Sergeant on May 31, 2005, became Interim Police Chief on August 31, 2007, and was later promoted to Police Chief on October 8, 2007.

“The Town of Manteo Board of Commissioners and staff offer their sincere appreciation to Chief Haskett for his dedicated service to the Town of Manteo,” according to a statement.

The town will be accepting applications for qualified Police Chief candidates. Additional information regarding the recruitment process will be forthcoming.

During the recruitment process and transition, Lieutenant Brad Eilert will serve as Interim Police Chief.
