October 18th, 2023

Neighborhoods in Corolla are coming together this Saturday to battle in a variety of friendly competitions to see who will go home with the first ever Corolla Cup.

The event will be held at the Corolla Light Oceanfront Pool Complex from noon to 5 p.m.

Due to limited parking on-site, remote parking will be available at Currituck Heritage Park/Whalehead Club which is a 1/2 mile walk to the complex. Free shuttle service from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Competitors in The Corolla Cup are year-round and seasonal residents divided into four squads: The red team from Currituck Club and Ocean Sand, the green team from Monterey Shores and Whalehead, the gold team from Corolla Light and the 4×4 area, and the blue team from The Villages at Ocean Hill.

The teams, whose rosters have already been set, will be competing in pickleball, shuffleboard, cornhole and volleyball.

A limited number of team shirts will be on sale to spectators for $20, with proceeds going to Water’s Edge Village School, and students will also be selling other items and taking donations for the construction of their new building. Food and drinks will be on sale at the Oceanfront Grille.
