Nags Head Town Commissioners candidate forum set for Sept. 14 at town hall

September 7th, 2023

The Nags Head Precinct of the Democratic Party will host a Nags Head Board of Commissioners candidate round-robin session scheduled for Thursday, September 14, at 6 p.m.

The event will take place at the Nags Head Town Hall and promises to be an invaluable opportunity for candidates who are running in the non-partisan election this November to engage in one-on-one conversations with voters.

Four candidates are vying for two seats on the Nags Head Board of Commissioners. Clockwise from top Left: T-Mike Morrison, Keith Sawyer, Kevin Brinkley, Megan Lambert.

According to a news release, the Nags Head Precinct strongly believes in the importance of direct interactions between candidates and voters to strengthen our democracy.

With this in mind, the precinct designed the round-robin session to provide candidates with an intimate setting to connect with the electorate. The event will begin with the audience divided into smaller groups, allowing each candidate to spend 10-15 minutes privately engaging with each group.

This unique format not only grants candidates ample time to articulate their visions and ideas but also provides voters with a relaxed and informal platform to share their thoughts and concerns on various town issues. Candidates are encouraged to actively seek voter perspectives, fostering a deeper understanding of the matters close to the hearts of Nags Head residents.

All candidates for Nags Head Commissioner in this year’s election have been invited to participate in this dynamic session. All Nags Head voters are invited to attend. The meeting is open to the public.

“As a precinct, we have always cherished open dialogues and grassroots engagement,” said Mary Kelley Chair of the Nags Head Precinct. “The round-robin session represents a remarkable opportunity for candidates to connect with our diverse and thoughtful electorate, enabling them to gain insights into the aspirations and expectations of our town’s residents.”

The Nags Head Democratic Party Precinct invites all Nags Head voters to join us at the Nags Head Town Hall on Thursday, September 14, at 6 p.m. to foster a stronger democratic process through direct interactions and meaningful conversations about our Town of Nags Head.
