Occupancy tax collections in Dare County in February topped $16 million for a third straight year, and while meals tax collections were slightly down from the same month in 2022, they still eclipsed $12 million.
Other highlights coming from the April meeting of the Dare County Tourism Board include setting a date for their public hearing on the budget for the 2023-24 fiscal year, details about the upcoming webinar on predictions for visitation during summer 2023, and when findings of the long range plan for the region’s visitor economy will be available.
