Norfolk International Airport reports highest-ever March passenger count

Norfolk International Airport reported a 4.6 percent increase in passenger activity for the month of March 2023 with 333,484 passengers, representing the busiest March in the airport’s history.

That compares to a March 2022 passenger count of 318,835 at the closest international airport to the Greater Outer Banks.

January to March 2023 total passenger count has increased 13.0 percent representing 872,106 passengers compared to 771,722 passengers during the same period in 2022.

In other activity, 5,539,346 pounds of cargo were shipped in and out of the airport during March 2023. This represents a 6.0 percent decrease compared to March 2022, which saw 5,892,367 pounds of cargo shipped.

January to March 2023 cargo pounds shipped has increased 1.3% percent representing 15,153,539 cargo pounds compared to 14,957,219 cargo pounds during the same period in 2022.

The above-mentioned figures reflect service by scheduled airlines Allegiant, American, Breeze, Delta, Frontier, Southwest, Spirit, United and their regional airline partners, as well as charter airlines. Cargo carriers include Federal Express, Mountain Air Cargo, and UPS.
