There’s something fishy traveling the roadways of North Carolina. The long-awaited North Carolina Aquariums specialty license plate is now available for purchase through the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles.
The colorful plate, designed by Aquarium staff, features three iconic creatures found in North Carolina waters: sea turtle, river otter, and sand tiger shark.
The N.C. Aquariums specialty plate costs $30 annually on top of standard registration fees. Of this, $20 goes to the N.C. Aquarium Society to support the Aquariums, and $10 benefits the N.C. Department of Transportation Wildflower Program. Personalized plates are available for an additional fee.
Plates can be ordered through the NCDMV Renew Registration & Plate portal online or at any NCDMV license plate agency – look for “NC Aquarium Society” under specialty plates.
