Recent research from Destination Analysts notes that, in the upcoming months, more than half of Americans will prioritize travel in their household budgets over other items, including home improvement spending, clothing, entertainment and dining out.
Thirty-five percent of American travelers say that travel will be a high or extremely high priority, and 14 percent say that they will prioritize luxury travel.
Nearly a third of Americans say they will travel more in the next 12 months than they did in the last 12 months, and 50 percent say they will travel the same amount. As well, more than a third of travelers (35 percent) expect their spending on leisure travel to increase, while 45 percent plan to spend about the same.
Excitement for leisure travel remains extremely high, and has grown significantly during the last several months. Nearly 86 percent of American travelers say they are excited about leisure travel during the next 12 months.
