Norfolk International Airport reported a 13.5 percent increase in passenger activity for the month of February 2023 with 263,669 passengers, the busiest February in the airport’s history.
That compares to a February 2022 passenger count of 232,207 at the closest international airport to the Greater Outer Banks.
January to February 2023 total passenger count has increased 18.8 percent representing 538,112 passengers versus 452,887 passengers during the same period in 2022.
In other activity, 4,751,089 pounds of cargo were shipped in and out of the airport during February 2023. This represents a 3.0 percent increase versus February 2022, which saw 4,611,798 pounds of cargo shipped.
January to February 2023 cargo pounds shipped has increased 6.1% percent representing 9,614,193 cargo pounds versus 9,064,852 cargo pounds during the same period in 2022.
The above-mentioned figures reflect service by scheduled airlines Allegiant, American, Breeze, Delta, Frontier, Southwest, United and their regional airline partners, as well as charter airlines. Cargo carriers include Federal Express, Mountain Air Cargo, and UPS.
