Starting this April, they are offering a three-part Vegetable Gardening Series. All classes will take place at the Currituck County Extension Office, 120 Community Way in Barco from 10:00 to Noon.

There is a $15.00 fee for each class, but with that cost comes materials to start your garden, to help it grow, and to help protect it from pests. You can sign up for as many of the classes as you would like, or all three at the Vegetable Gardening Series Eventbrite website.

Join them on April 6th for a Garden Preparation class where you can learn what it takes to get our gardens off to a strong start. They will cover some of the common issues gardeners face in our area related to nutrient deficiencies and garden maintenance, including pruning and staking tomatoes.

The final gardening class, Pests and Diseases will be held on May 4th. It covers everything that’s out there trying to eat your vegetables before you do! More specifically, they will cover common insect pests and diseases, how to control them, and some beneficial insects to be on the lookout for.

The fee for this course will cover the cost of a native, beneficial control option to defend your garden.
