Norfolk International Airport (ORF) reported a 24.4 percent increase in passenger activity for the month of January 2023 with 274,443 passengers, the second busiest January in the history of the closest international airport to the Outer Banks and northeastern North Carolina.
The passenger count for January 2022 was 220,680.
In other activity, 4,863,104 pounds of cargo were shipped in and out of the airport during January 2023. This represents a 9.2 percent increase versus January 2022, which saw 4,453,054 pounds of cargo shipped.
The figures reflect service by scheduled airlines Allegiant, American, Breeze, Delta, Frontier, Southwest, United and their regional airline partners, as well as charter airlines. Cargo carriers include Federal Express, Mountain Air Cargo, and UPS.
