The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Meeting and Awards Reception on Thursday at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk.
The event featured a Winter Wonderland theme and included a prime rib and lobster buffet, music with Howell & Caswell, and highlighted the accomplishments and successes of 2022 and looked ahead to 2023.
2022 Chairman of the Board Myra Ladd-Bone from Atlantic Realty gave a recap of the 2022 program year, and outgoing board members Susan Yan, Bambos Charalambous and Laura Ertle were recognized for their contributions to the Board of Directors.
Dare County, Outer Banks Visitors Bureau, The Outer Banks Hospital, and TowneBank/Towne Insurance were named Members of the Year, sponsored by Outer Banks Ace Hardware.
PUBLIX won the Business Partner in Education Award sponsored by Vacasa. Pigman’s Barbecue was named Community Business Partner of the Year sponsored by East Albemarle District.
Peak Resources was presented the Community Business Impact Award sponsored by the N.C. Aquarium on Roanoke Island. Sanctuary Vineyards won Business Innovator of the Year sponsored by the COA Small Business Center.
Lynn Jenkins, executive director of the Community Care Clinic of Dare is this year’s Community Star sponsored by Seaside Vacations Outer Banks. And Erica Power, FNB, is the Volunteer of the Year sponsored by Ocean Sands K-9 Resort.
Also celebrated at the reception were outgoing 2022 Chairman of the Board, Myra Ladd-Bone, as well as the passing of the gavel to the 2023 Chairman of the Board, Jim Gilreath.
The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce is the area’s largest business membership organization serving Currituck County, Dare County, and Ocracoke.
