Dare County held a public meeting Wednesday evening before a standing-room only crowd at the Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo Community Building to provide information and facilitate a discussion with residents and property owners in the village of Rodanthe regarding their concerns with the issue of erosion that has affected the Hatteras Island community.
Dare County Board of Commissioners Chairman Bob Woodard opened the meeting, followed by a presentation from Dare County Manager/Attorney Bobby Outten that included an overview of the logistics and funding models that have made previous beach nourishment projects possible in Dare County.
The presentation detailed the challenges that are faced when it comes to funding and prioritizing newly established beach nourishment projects.
Following the presentation, there was an opportunity for both in-person and virtual attendees to ask questions or express their concerns.
