Over half of Americans plan to stay in paid lodging between now and early 2023

December 17th, 2022

More than half of American travelers, 55.1 percent, plan to take at least one trip between now and early January, reports Destination Analysts.

While many plan to stay in homes of friends and family, more than 58 percent will stay in paid lodging. The average length of stay for holiday travel is expected to be more than 5 days.

There is still an opportunity to attract holiday visitors as many of those who plan to travel say the destinations they plan to visit are not yet finalized. For those who have decided on a destination, a third of travelers plan to visit small towns and a third plan to travel to urban areas. Twenty-three percent plan to visit beach destinations and 15 percent plan to visit parks.
