Veterans Day ceremonies on the Outer Banks, in northeastern N.C.

Veteran’s Day is on Friday, November 11, this year, and ceremonies have been scheduled across the region.

Elizabeth City (Thursday, Nov. 10)
Leaders from the City of Elizabeth City and senior administrators from ECSU, COA and MACU honor veteran students and employees at the universities and college, as well as veterans in the Elizabeth City community, for their sacrifice and service to the United States of America.

The ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 10, begins at 12 p.m. at Veteran’s Park, corner of North Water Street and East Elizabeth Street. Rain location is Knobbs Creek Recreation Center, 200 E. Ward Street.

Nags Head
The public is invited to a ceremony in honor of our nation’s veterans on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the veterans memorial in front of Nags Head’s town hall at 5401 S. Croatan Highway.

The program will feature a special guest speaker and live music, along with a wreath laying at the town’s Veterans Memorial.

You won’t have to be in town this year to see the ceremony with a livestreaming on their YouTube channel starting at 11 am. The ceremony is usually anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes long.

Southern Shores
The Knights of Columbus Assembly 2989 and Town of Southern Shores will host the 2022 Veterans Day Ceremony on
Friday, November 11 at 11 a.m. at the Southern Shores Town Hall Flagpole Pavilion.

These year’s Ceremony Speaker is Tom Copeman, VADM, USN (ret). VADM Copeman was commissioned in the United States Navy on April 2, 1982 and retired a long distinguished career in 2014.

Dare County
The Virginia S. Tillett Community Center in Manteo will host its annual Veterans Day Celebration at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. The event will include a program and visual presentation highlighting our local servicemen and servicewomen. Entertainment will be provided by The Riff Tides!

Manteo
The Veterans Day ceremony in Manteo will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022, at the Dare County Veterans Memorial, which is located at 300 Queen Elizabeth Avenue in downtown Manteo.

Kill Devil Hills
The Veterans Day ceremony in Kill Devil Hills will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022. The ceremony will be held at the Veterans Memorial, which is located on Veterans Drive in Kill Devil Hills.

Hatteras Island
Cape Hatteras Secondary School (CHSS), which is located at 48576 N.C. Highway 12 in Buxton, will host its annual Veterans Day celebration on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. The event will begin at 9 a.m. in the CHSS cafeteria, where veterans will be served breakfast and have the opportunity to visit with one another.

At 10 a.m. the veterans will be honored by students, faculty, the CHSS band, a guest speaker and members of the community. The names of recently deceased local veterans will be read, and the CHSS graduates that are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces will be recognized.
