The American Red Cross will hold five blood donation drives on the Outer Banks in November.
“During October, 193 generous Outer Banks blood donors potentially saved 534 lives” said Frank Spruill, Red Cross Blood Donor Ambassador.
“Everyone has their own reasons for donating blood, all of them important,” Spruill said. “Recently a first-time donor told me he was giving because of his wife’s need for blood transfusions, and a frequent donor told me about her empowered feeling from helping others.”
The need for blood is constant. If you are healthy and feeling well, schedule an appointment to donate blood by visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767).
The actual donation takes about 10 – 12 minutes, and the entire process from arrival to departure is about one hour.
