Based on the analysis of 38 metrics organized into five key categories — Affordability, Entertainment, Healthcare, Safety, and Wellness — the 2022 Best States to Retire study shows which are the most suitable places for those looking to enjoy their golden years.
According to the study, North Carolina is the 8th best state to retire in due to its high quality of public hospitals, its wide range of geriatric care offerings, as well as its quality of hospice care.
North Carolina ranked #5 for entertainment, #25 for affordability, #18 in healthcare, #9 in safety and #17 wellness.
Connecticut, Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Texas were the top 5 states, followed by South Carolina, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Kentucky and Michigan. Virginia was 11th and Maryland 24th.
