The 15th anniversary of clean up of Carova Beach, sponsored by Tidewater Broncos, Virginia Four Wheel Drive Association and Eastern Truck & Accessories, will take place on October 8, 2022.
Every year, they fundraise and help clean the beach in order to help protect the wild mustangs that have called the beaches of the Outer Banks home since the 1500s. There are approximately 120 Spanish Mustangs left that wander Carova Beach and the backroads. Every year thousands of people come to see these majestic horses in their natural environment running along the shore line, playing in the ocean waves, or frolicking with each other up on the dunes.
Organizers are reaching out to vendors to secure items or services to be used in a raffle and silent auction, to raise funds to donate to the Corolla Wild Horse Fund.
The Corolla Wild Horse Fund takes care of any injured horse that may have to be taken off the beach and transported to the farm for treatment. The farm has professional veterinarians on staff who, along with volunteers, help take care of the horses where they live out their life if they are unable to be returned to the beach. The funds that are raised by the Carova Beach Clean Up help to maintain the facility, feed, and care for the horses that have to leave the beach. It also helps educate people who come to Carova Beach to see the horses.
If you are able to help make this event a success again this year by donating, we appreciate it! If not,
we understand that too as the last couple of years have been hard on everyone, including small businesses hit hard by the pandemic.
