Currituck County residents and property owners to get new access permit in December

September 6th, 2022

Currituck County residents and property owners will soon receive a new permit that will have several uses, replacing the static cling decal that expires at the end of 2022

The 2023 Currituck County Access Permit will be delivered to each resident and property owner in a special December mailing. You will not receive a permit or solid waste decal with your property tax bill this year.

The 2023 access permit will be used similarly to how the solid waste decal is being used this year. It will allow residents and property owners to:
• Utilize recycling convenience centers
• Park on the four-wheel drive beach
• Re-enter the Outer Banks following an evacuation.

The county said Tuesday in a Facebook post that rather than a windshield decal, the new permit would hang from the vehicle rearview mirror.

Following feedback from WOBX readers and other, on Wednesday an update was posted on the county’s Facebook page about what type of permit will be issued.
