The campground at Pettigrew State Park in Creswell will close on Jan.1, 2023 for the construction of new campground facilities, according to the N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation.
The project will include the refurbishment of existing campsites and the construction of new facilities and amenities. Construction is expected to take up to 12 months.
The park offers a 13-site campground, but does not yet provide hookups for RVs — a rapidly-growing expectation from visitors for the past decade.
New facilities will include an ADA-accessible shower house, two camper cabins and five RV sites with full hookups. Renovations will update the park office and display area, which highlights an Algonquian canoe found in Lake Phelps.
This project was funded with $2.5 million in Connect N.C. bond funds. Those who wish to get updates about the project can visit https://www.ncparks.gov/pettigrew-state-park
