Yelp names Outer Banks fourth best summer destination in the U.S. for foodies

June 30th, 2022

More accolades for the Outer Banks! This time from crowd-sourced review website and app Yelp, which has complied a list of their top trending destinations for foodies “looking for inspiration for their next summer travel getaway”.

More from Yelp’s Small Towns, Big Flavors:

To name this year’s top US destinations for foodies, our Data Science team looked for the cities that had the highest restaurant ratings from out-of-towners and then took a look at what visitors were loving on Yelp. We limited this year’s list to cities with populations under 250,000 that have must-know food scenes.

The Outer Banks (they used Kill Devil Hills as the city identifier in their rankings) came in fourth, behind top choice Asheville, the Hawaiian Islands and San Luis Obispo, California.

Some of the cities we rank ahead of include Charleston, South Carolina (6th), Wilmington (7th) and Savannah (10th).

“The Outer Banks of North Carolina may be known for their open-sea beaches but its food scene is one to keep an eye on,” is how Yelp summed up what made us one of their favs.
