Dare Days returns this weekend with three days celebrating the Outer Banks

June 2nd, 2022

There are birthdays, holidays, barefoot days, wear your PJs to school days, take your child to work days, and then there are Dare Days.

Dare Days 2022, showcasing and celebrating our great community, its diverse culture, and rich history over three days in three ways in three different locations in Manteo.

Friday, June 3
Dare Days 2022 will kick off at the brand new College of the Albemarle Dare Campus from 6 to 10 p.m. The main highway into Town is lined with local businesses and is the gateway that greets all who live in and visit our community each and every day.

The doors to COA’s new campus will be wide open in order to showcase the various programs they offer and let everyone see for themselves why they are a great choice for a quality education.

Grab your lawn chair or fuzzy blanket and spread out on the lawn while enjoying yummy food from local food trucks, jamming out to local bands, and smiling as you watch kids of all ages having lots of big fun with all the lively activities throughout the evening.

Follow the sidewalk downtown to continue experiencing the vibrant and lovely Town of Manteo at the First Friday festivities too.

Saturday, June 4
Come back the next day and help us celebrate our community even more from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Roanoke Island Festival Park in downtown Manteo.

Manteo is on the move with various construction projects, so we are spreading out on the beautiful and spacious grounds of one of our local historical attractions. It’s like an adventure within an adventure!

Bring your family and friends and check out the variety of craft and food vendors, music, live entertainment, lawn games, and a great kid’s corner.

High school bands, local dancers and performers, obstacle course, and hula hoops – stay tuned for more of the scoop!

Sunday, June 5
But wait, there is more! Keep that lawn chair and fuzzy blanket in the car as you won’t be going too far. Finish off a weekend of family, friends, smiles, giggles, and wiggles from 2 to 4 p.m. at a gospel concert at the Pea Island Cookhouse on Sir Walter Raleigh Street.

Look for the Keeper Richard Etheridge statue that stands tall at the roundabout waiting to share his story and see you all! Grab a drink at the old-fashioned lemonade stand and indulge in some sensational local sweets at the bake sales while relaxing and enjoying a wide array of music provided by our local churches and other groups. What a delight!

Dare Days 2022 is all about celebrating and connecting communities at the grass roots level in order to share our wonderful and diverse culture and rich history through this very special event.

Also, don’t forget to shop and dine at the many local shops and restaurants throughout the weekend. Shop local, keep your receipts and exchange them during any part of the weekend’s festivities for fun gifts and prizes. Dare Days 2022 is sure to be an eventFULL weekend!
